How To Practice Mindful Eating?

Are you a foodie? Well, there are high chances that you might be one. After all, who doesn’t enjoy eating food. BUT, do you know how to eat well? Having 3 to 4 meals in a day is good but it is also important to know how to eat those meals.

The moment we get our plate right in front of us we start eating without thinking of how many times each bite must be chewed. In most households, we tend to eat food while watching our favourite series or the news which is why we don’t enjoy the delicious meal in front of us. And it ends up becoming a mere ritual of eating while being distracted.

To truly enjoy your food, it is important to keep yourself away from any sort of distractions and concentrate on every bite. This way you can not only enjoy the taste but you also feel more satisfied by eating the optimum amount. You will know when exactly to stop once you are full.

The digestion of food starts right from the mouth. Hence, it is very important to chew your food at least 20 times. So, if you chew properly your system won’t have to work too hard to digest the food.

Try to eat in a quiet place away from chaos. If you have young children at home, you can reward them periodically for practicing mindful eating. Lastly, take small bites and eat slowly in silence for the first 2-3 minutes. Practice mindful eating every day and you will see positive changes.
